A Private Island Wedding off the Coast of Charleston

Dewees is a private paradise off the coast of Charleston, South Carolina. So private, in fact, that the only way to get there is by boat and immediately upon arrival you trade in your car keys for a golf cart key! Home to very few full-time residents and a wildlife preserve, Dewees Island is the perfect place to take a step back, explore the beauty of the Lowcountry and in Annie + Evan’s case, GET MARRIED! Annie spent a lot of time on Dewees growing up and some of her favorite childhood memories were made here so it was only fitting that the first place she and Evan travelled to together was this very place!

Annie + Evan’s wedding was one for the books! Photographed by the talented Olivia Rae James, this wedding was the perfect combination of coastal charm and southern hospitality. Guests arrived by boat and were immediately greeted with champagne. After the sweetest ceremony officiated by Evan’s father and a sunset cocktail hour, guests moved under a sailcloth tent to dine on lowcountry fair catered by Cru Catering. Friends and family shared charming stories of Annie + Evan’s courtship and then danced the night away! At the end of the evening Annie + Evan were sent off with the glow of sparklers and taken away in their getaway golf cart! It was the perfect evening full of joy and merriment in a place that first brought this sweet couple together!
